Best Fry's I have ever visited and will probably be the only electronics store I go to from now on. The 50's Sci-Fi theme is amazing and fun. Giant ants! UFOs, including one that has crashed into the store! This place is just fun. Yeah it is a mess inside and the organization is probably best understood after multiple visits but who cares! There are martians attaching the army and a movie screen in a UFO!
Use to love this store when it first open, but online sales has really take a toll on it. They seem to be moving away from electronics. I was walking down one the old software aisles and it was lined with perfume.
The absolute worst customer service. I asked an employee for help finding a radio removal tool, he immediately barked back "I have nothing like that". I showed him on my phone the Fry's website shows the item is in stock. "We don't carry that stuff anymore, the website is not 300% accurate". (yes he really said that!) I asked where his radio installation kits are, "there in the back where you can't get to them". I said these are very common tools, surely you have them as you sell many aftermarket audio items "they aren't as common as you think man". Finally he gets tired of us wandering aimlessly in his territory so he walks back to the install kits to prove he doesn't have the tools. A few seconds later "Yup, not here dude". He then allows us (surprisingly) to look for ourselves. In literally 5 seconds I found the tool I needed. His response? "There ya go" and walks off. It was such a ridiculous experience, we informed a manager (who also did not have a name badge). His response was "Oh yeah, sorry, want me to price match that?" Oh you mean that thing you do anyway?? Wow thanks! We spent 10 minutes waiting for a CSR to price match only to have her say she couldn't find the item for less.
To the guy that refused to be of any help whatsoever... I know you work an entry level retail job, we've all been there. But dude have some self respect and respect for others and good things could happen someday as a result of your efforts. For example... I serve as operations manager for a medical devices firm and I'm currently looking for several new hires with a strong customer service background. This is the type of step up from retail that could provide a genuine living wage. It is a real shame you chose to serve as the perfect example of someone no one would want near their organization. Unless you're Fry's management, and then clearly you could not care less. I will certainly not be returning to this place. I don't expect much these days, but holy hell this was just absurd.
The one thing that hasn't changed, the amount of time it takes to check out. Like every other Fry's, they built huge number of registers, about 40+, only open handful are ever opened.
Awesome decor! When it came to customer service in the computer department, however, it was pretty slow. There were only two people on shift here so customer service was at a crawl and elsewhere around the store, staff was a bit hard to find. Restrooms were clean and once staff got to you, the process was smooth and they knew their stuff. The dvd selection is quite extensive.
They never took the time to change the signs. For example. The now only have a small section for software but they still keep all the old signs up. They have multiple aisles labeled software that contains other things like perfume, or drones which can be very confusing.
If you like being treated like cancer this is the place for you. You will wait on hold forever. Then you will be transferred. No one will answer in your department. Then it will come back to the original person. Maybe. Then they will transfer you somewhere else. While you are waiting for someone to pick up, you will be hung up on. No one will call you back. Ever.
